Cal Poly’s Reid Earns Back-to-Back All-America Honors (Nov. 19) TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Cal Poly senior Phillip Reid has made a habit of repeating awards this season as the senior cross country runner claimed All-America status for the second consecutive year following his performance at the NCAA Championships. Reid, a native of Oxnard, Calif., led the Mustangs to an 11th place finish at the national meet after completing the 10K course in 30:31.2, good for 33rd place overall. A year ago, Reid finished 21st overall for his All-America honor. Reid’s All-America honor was the third back-to-back award he takes home in his final season. He also collected consecutive Big West Athlete of the Year awards and won the conference individual championship two years in a row. The All-America awards are given to the top 25 American-born finishers at the NCAA meet. On the men’s side of the NCAA Championships, five-time defending Big West champion Cal Poly was the lone conference team in action. Following Reid for the Mustangs was Troy Swier (95th - 31:05.4), Matt Johnsrud (109th - 31:10.6), Evan Anderson (111th - 31:11.9) and Jeff Lease (114th - 31:14.2).
